1. What Are Cookies and Browser Storage?
Cookies and Local Storage are small text data files stored in your web browser when you visit websites. They allow web applications to remember your preferences, keep you securely signed in, and prevent you from having to re-enter data repeatedly.
2. Interactive Cookie Preference Manager
You can customize your storage preferences at any time using the interactive panel below:

4. Essential Functional Cookies vs. Optional Analytics
We separate our storage into two clear categories:
- Strictly Essential Storage: Necessary for core calculator operation. When you calculate your Kundli or transit chart, AstroLeaf stores your birth parameters (date, time, birthplace coordinates) in first-party local cookies so you can navigate between tools without losing your chart. Essential storage also maintains login security and consent choices. Rejecting analytics does NOT disable essential functional storage.
- Optional Analytics: Google Analytics 4 is completely blocked until you explicitly click "Allow analytics". If you select "Essential only", analytics scripts are completely prevented from loading, and existing analytics cookies are purged immediately.
5. Global Privacy Control (GPC) & Do Not Track Support
AstroLeaf automatically detects and honors the navigator.globalPrivacyControl (GPC) and Do Not Track browser signals. When GPC is active, optional analytics are disabled by default without requiring manual configuration.
6. Managing Cookies in Your Web Browser
In addition to our on-page cookie manager, you can delete or block cookies directly through your web browser settings:
- Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Third-party cookies.
- Apple Safari (macOS / iOS): Settings > Safari > Privacy & Security > Block All Cookies.
- Mozilla Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies.
